Welcome to our practice

We are a team of health care practitioners from several countries, all licensed in Italy and most with international training, who have been working together in Rome for as long as 25 years.

Visits: By appointment. Normally visits are scheduled when a slot is available, but in an emergency any patient we already know will be squeezed in on the same day. This can mean other patients with appointments have to wait at times, but we think that's a necessary tradeoff. Please try to give 24 hours notice when cancelling, so another patient can be given your slot.
Cross-coverage: When one of us is out of town or unavailable, the secretaries will always be able to arrange for a substitute, either within our practice or not. We will also gladly help you find an outside physician in specialties not included in our group, when necessary.
Telephone calls: When with a patient, we ordinarily have the secretaries take messages and then we call back later. Please don't ask them to interrupt an examination unless it's really necessary. In an emergency you can call us at home, or enlist the secretaries' help. For non-emergency calls to the office, try to avoid the peak telephone hours of 9-11 am and 2-5:30 pm.
Payment: We follow a policy of moderate fees, and will scale down even those if you are really strapped. In return, we'd appreciate your paying on the spot when possible, since we have no fancy billing system. We hope to be able to accept credit or debit cards in the future. Our office is not part of the National Health Service.
Insurance forms: Please try to remember to bring them at the time of your appointment, when they're easiest to fill out.

Patients insured by Van Breda International: Under a direct payment agreement involving FAO, WFP, ICCROM, IPGRI (Bioversity International), and IFAD, Van Breda will pay 80% of the cost of covered patient visits directly to the Aventino Medical Group (for IPGRI, 90%). Everyone insured by Van Breda through other employers must pay in full and request reimbursement.  The direct payment agreement only covers Drs. Buntin, D'Agata, d'Arcangelo, De Arcangelis, Duval, Glazenburg, Levenstein, Stainier, and Trouvé, and it covers only medical examinations, not any other service (immunizations, injections, ECGs, Pap smears, spirometry, casts, cryotherapy, etc.).

Example:  Dr. Buntin examines your broken arm and applies a cast.

  • His charges are € 80 for the examination + € 50 for the cast.

  • You must pay us 20% x €80 (€16) + 100% x €50 (€50) = € 66

  • Van Breda will pay us directly the other 80% of the € 80 (€ 64)

  • We issue an invoice for the whole amount: € 80 + € 50 = € 130

  • We give you a photocopy of the invoice so that you can request reimbursement of 80% of the € 50 you paid for the cast.

Please have your Van Breda card ready when it's time to pay.
